More good news!

We had a long day at Duke yesterday.  He had his ears, heart, and lungs all tested; along with a clinic visit for his pre-chemo physical and a chest x-ray.  One of the chemotherapy drugs can cause hearing loss; hence why we have to keep getting his ears checked.  The good news to report is through round one, there was no change noted with Cameron’s hearing.  Praise God!  Also, his lungs and heart looked as they should.  He was so funny during his clinic appointment, entertaining the nurses with his singing and dancing to “Everybody Dance Now.”  His platelets have come back beautifully and are over the mark to begin round two.  His hemoglobin is a little low; a count which would normally not require a transfusion.  However, one of the drugs he takes on Monday requires a hemoglobin level of at least 10.0.  As of yesterday, he was sitting at 9.7.  We are hoping his counts ease up over the 10.0 mark so that he will not have to receive a transfusion on Sunday once we check in.  All in all, Cameron is feeling good and so are Ernest and I.  After next week, we are halfway through his chemotherapy treatments.  God has just blessed us with peace and endurance beyond words.  His chemotherapy schedule will be as it was last month; chemo Monday through Wednesday and then stem cells on Friday.  And speaking of Friday, it is actually his birthday.  I find it somewhat neat that he will be getting a batch of his stem cells back on his birthday; a feisty bag of cells ready to repair what’s been destroyed and essentially, give him new life (yes, I’m a science geek)!  We will update daily as each chemotherapy dose is complete.  Until then, keep praying; Christ hears it, we feel it, and Cameron’s resilient self is the result of it.
