Things with Cameron were much better today. He made it through last night without any fever or blood pressure issues. He has his days and nights mixed up a bit (as he always does when he is in the hospital) and therefore he was up at 3am ready to start the day. I, of course, handed him the remote and told him to let me know if he needed anything. I’m still trying to catch up from my night of wrath. After a nap this morning, he woke up a new little boy. He was happy, energetic and felt remarkably better. Physical therapy came by to see him and after doing several exercises in his room, he was still ready for more so they headed to the sixth floor where the physical therapy gym is, and continued the workout. I was amazed by his stamina; I believe the therapist was as well. After Connor got home from school, I took him to Duke to see Cameron. The two of them hooked up their Nintendo’s and enjoyed a few rounds of Mario Party DS together. Cameron is so excited about his birthday tomorrow. I think Dr. G’s office has made some arrangements for him to have a great day. I will be sure to post pictures tomorrow night of his Duke party! We are still on schedule for a Saturday discharge. However, it looks like my mom and I will be the ones bringing him home as Ernest grandmother passed away last night and he and Connor will be heading to
Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.
However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.
