Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.
However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.
Things are great in the Jackson household. Cameron is back in school full time and loving every minute of it. He is finally starting to put some weight back on and can wear his clothes again. Strangely enough, so far this winter has gone very well and he has yet to pick up anything. We were certain it would be a rough winter with him considering his immune system was killed four times last summer. But so far, the Lord has continued to cover him with His mighty hand. This coming week is a big one for our family as Cameron approaches the one-year mark from his diagnosis with Medulloblastoma. But because we are at the one-year mark, next week will be filled with many days at Duke, including an MRI on Friday, February 6th. Please keep us all in your prayer for that. While I’m certain all will be well, these scan are always nerve-racking.
We are also preparing for the Angels Among Us walk at Duke on April 25th. This is going to be such a great time for our family and it is such a worthy cause. We are in the process of having t-shirts printed for team “Action Jackson” and will be having several upcoming fundraiser events around Apex. We are also excited about the upcoming Duke Lacrosse season and Cameron’s interactions with the guys on the field. I know it is going to be a wonderful spring for him.
I’ll post updates next week as we complete his hospital visits. I can’t believe it’s been a year since this site opened! Praise God for all He has done in my precious Cameron’s life.
