Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.

However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.

Update on Cam!

The past few days have been pretty uneventful…PRAISE GOD! He remains afebrile and so far, his latest blood cultures remain negative. Ironically enough, his counts are already on the rise. This is pretty atypical; counts usually do not rise quicker after the second cycle than they do the first. But he is Cameron and he is known for doing the opposite of what is expected. Unfortunately, his right wrist is still VERY sore and bruised from the arterial line. Dr. G was a little upset that the PICU put the line in before giving him platelets but what can you do at this point. His platelet level remains low and I expect a transfusion either tonight or tomorrow which I hope will speed up the recovery of Cameron’s wrist; it has been a major source of pain.

The remainder of this week is full of appointments for us. Tomorrow, Cam has an eye appointment, Thursday he has an MRI and Friday he goes to the OR (platelet permitting) for a lumbar puncture as well as an endoscopy. I’m hoping we will be home by Friday afternoon and then will be able to enjoy TWO WEEKS off from Duke. YEAH!!!

Thank you all for your prayers and calls this week. It has been a trying week for all of us. This is the first time since his surgery where Ernest and I have just been exhausted. But as tired as we are, and as sick as Cameron was this weekend, we see how the Lord has continued to take care of our little boy. I wish you could all meet Dr. G. He is a tremendous doctor who takes his job very seriously and cares for Cam so much. And Cameron feels it too. Cameron is a kid who loves to snuggle up on the couch and hold/play with your hands and yesterday, Dr. G came in and sat down on Cameron’s bed and immediately, Cameron began doing the same with his hands. As a mom, it was so sweet to see because it showed me how much Cameron trusts him. I know that is a major component of why Cameron stays content and happy, even when he is in the hospital.

Please continue to remember him in the upcoming days. We trust and pray these test will all come back and again, show NO signs of the cancer. And continue to pray for his medical team; they make the calls, keep him healthy, and are truly part of our family now. Much love to you all.
