Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.
However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.
So I’m sure many of you are wondering what is going on in the life of Cameron “Action” Jackson. Typically, no news is good news; this holds true for us too. His counts appear to be on the rebound, moving minutely over night. But I’m not starting my cartwheels just yet! He still has a long way to go before he can go home however, this can happen quickly once they begin to rise. His platelets are down a bit which is expected as well. What has not been expected is that he could get through a round of his chemotherapy with only one blood transfusion. Yes he’s a strong little boy but we all know, the true strength and power behind him right now are the prayers being lifted to our Lord. He has definitely done better than the Neuro-oncology team expected! God is so amazingly good! Cameron was finally allowed out of his room yesterday where he enjoyed several walks around the unit. Last night he didn’t sleep well and today he has had some tummy pain and a bit of a headache. I’m thinking (with my MD and all…heh heh) that it is the vitamins in the TPN. He has never been able to take a multi-vitamin for similar reasons and therefore when I brought it up to the nurse practitioner, she felt I may be on to something. Thankfully, the headaches are in an area which raises no concern. The highlight for today was a visit from the Durham Bulls where they gave Cameron a few goodies. Tomorrow they will be bringing the movie Speed Racer to his room to watch. Apparently, there is an organization which obtains the rights to newly released movies so the children who are in the hospital and unable to go to the theater are still able to view the new movies. How cool is that! All for now! We are exhausted and ready to come home. But we are thankful for God’s provisions thus far. Blessings to you all!

Hang in there!!! I know it will be soon that you can be back home. We know what it is like to be at Duke and not know when you can get out. We are praying for you with all our hearts so Cameron can be back in his own comfy bed..

LeAnn,
Thanks so much for the reassuring post you made this morning to Gabrielle's blog. It was exactly what I needed to hear! I think when you're preparing to send your 1 1/2 year old off for elective surgery you begin to wonder if you're doing the right thing and whether or not this is really God's plan. Thank you for reminding me of all the things that have fallen into place to make this surgery happen.
Duff has been updating me on Cameron. I was so sorry to hear that he was back in the hospital with a fever. Glad to know that he is steadily improving. We're praying you'll be heading home soon and that he will be healed through these difficult treatments.
The strength you and Ernest have shown through all of this is amazing and your obvious faith is refreshing.
Love,
Kelly
