Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.

However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.

A GREAT weekend

It’s LeAnn again. :-)  We had a great weekend with my sister and her family visiting and it was a lot of fun.  We traveled into downtown Raleigh for the Christmas Parade on Saturday and Connor and Cameron rode on the G105 float promoting Bob's Buddies to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  Bob and the Showgram host a radiothon every year to raise money for pediatric brain tumor research and so this year, they wanted the kids and their siblings to ride with them on the float.  It was a neat experience for Connor and Cameron.  Speaking of the radiothon, it is tomorrow, Wednesday, November 24 on 105.1.  Cameron's interview time is set for 4:30pm and I'm sure he will be his normal silly self.

He had his most recent IV treatment at Duke yesterday and all went well however, he normally has a bad reaction to this medicine almost every times, so we are praying his nausea will be mild this time. His last treatment left him unable to get out of bed the following day so we are praying it will not be the case this time.  Cam continues to lose weight and Dr. G is becoming rather concerned, as we all are.  Please, please, please be praying specifically for this issue.  I simply cannot bear the thoughts of a feeding tube for him but I cannot seem to make him eat either.  I don't know what we will end up having to do.  Needless to say, it has been a frustrating time for Ernest and I.  It is so incredibly hard to try to make all the right decisions in a situation where every decision seems to someway inflict another kind of harm on your child.  As I have said many times, I don't think I will ever understand any of this, but I'm trying to open my eyes to the ways God is helping us in the midst of this horrible trial instead of focusing on my pain.  Today, in the middle of the discussion of Cameron's weight with Dr. G, an email comes from another mom of a brain tumor survivor with the following included:

Isaiah 41:10 & 41:13

10 So do not fear, for I am with you:

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

13 For I am the LORD your God

who takes hold of your right hand

and says to you, Do not fear;

I will help you.

We have a trip to Disney planned and Cameron is super excited about it. It will be a much needed time away from Duke, life, and especially cancer. Many thanks to all who continue to lift us up in prayer.

LeAnn,

We will be specifically praying for Cameron's weight and we continue to pray for his healing. We pray for strength and trust in the midst of this trial for all of you. I'll be listening for Cam's spunky little voice tomorrow afternoon. Glad to hear a trip to Disney is in your future.

Love, Kelly
