Cameron was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in Febuary of 2008. After his tumor resection surgery, he underwent six weeks of radiation therapy and four months of chemotherapy. After these treatments, we went back into our "normal" lives and Cameron progressed well getting back into school and the day-to-day of being a little boy.

However, a routine MRI on March 19, 2010 showed his cancer had returned. On November 9th, 2011, Cameron finally conquered his battle with cancer when he opened his eyes to the joys of heaven. Even in these dark days, we know God has richly blessed us by putting so many wonderful people in our path during this journey and we are so very thankful for them all.

It's been two months

Well, it has been two months since our lives changed forever.  In reflection of what all we have been through, it seems like more than two months should have passed by.  I stand in awe as I remember the many steps we have taken over the last two months.  There is no question as to the hand of God in this traumatic journey.  From the most compassionate and wonderful doctor in Apex, to the amazing neurosurgical team at Duke who have become like our family, and on to the oncology team which is headed up by one of the most loving and gentle physicians I have ever met; it is without a doubt the Lord placed each of these individuals in the right place, at the right time, to take care of our sweet Cameron.  In two months time, Cameron has gone from the vibrant child who walked into Wake Med Apex, to a helpless six-year old fighting hard to recover from his brain surgery, and back to the vibrant, giggly child, walking again, not to perfection but remaining determined to, in his words, get “back to being Cameron.”  He has gone through a stem cell harvest, two long MRI’s, and two spinal taps.  He has gotten through a radio-oncology simulation where they molded a mask to his face for his treatments; not liking the ordeal at first but quickly adjusting to it as if it were second nature.  He’s lost all his hair yet continues to smile.  I’m amazed at Cameron’s strength and determination to get over this hurdle and live life to the fullest.  It has been through watching Cameron over the past few months that I now fully understand the words of Jesus when he spoke in Mark, Chapter 10, concerning childlike faith.  We may never know why this happened to Cameron, but we are required to trust the Lord with the same simplistic faith which Cameron trusts Him with each passing day.  Thank you all for your prayers.  To God Be the Glory for the amazing things He has done and the amazing things which He will continue to do.

Hi, LeAnn
We have following Cameron's progress and somewhat understand where you have been and how far you have come. I can't imagine going through this process with a small child. We love you and hope you know we are always here for you if you need us.
